Retired Vermont Farmer – Collaborating on his fiction tale Harmony Hill about a teenage boy managing a dairy farm in the 1940s. This tale reveals a myriad of colorful characters involved in intrigue within their small-town community, and explores intense human challenges such as alcoholism, rape, and PTSD.

Computer Systems Specialist and Science Fiction Writer – Collaborating on his series Predator: Beloved Prey, a story of planetary destruction in another universe that shines a glaring spotlight on greed and bloodlust, harking to missteps here on our own planet.

Writer and Marketer – Collaborated on The Accidental Apiarist: Bees and a Bachelor on a Barge, a nonfiction collection of stories about beekeeping, or rather, a humorous look at how not to keep bees, with the writer poking fun at all of his novice mistakes along the way. Corporate Writing – Was ghostwriter for high-level corporate content marketing, including social media. Updated white papers and use-case sheets.

Creative Nonfiction – Ghostwriter for this client’s memoir and collection of short stories about coming of age as a lesbian in a religious southern family. Currently in final stages of revision.

Teaching Experience

Faculty, Community College of Vermont, Montpelier, VT, 2013–present

Teach English courses, including English Composition I, Creative Writing I, and Autobiography. In English composition, students explore a wide range of rhetorical styles such as description, narration, process analysis, and persuasion. Creative writing students experiment with fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry. Student-centered instructional approach in all courses focuses on leadership, self-evaluation, Socratic seminar, and collaboration.

English Faculty, Norwich University, Northfield, VT, 2017

In Literature and Composition II, students explored various literary elements and techniques through anthologized short fiction stories, poetry, and creative nonfiction penned by authors from a variety of time periods, countries, and ethnicities. In writing, students applied different critical lenses to evaluate and interpret the techniques and themes inherent in the text. Classroom activities consisted of journal writing, lecture-discussion, collaborative groups, and Socratic seminar.
