Teaching Experience

Faculty, Community College of Vermont, Montpelier, VT, 2013–present

Teach English courses, including English Composition I and Creative Writing I. In English composition, students explore a wide range of rhetorical styles such as description, narration, process analysis, and persuasion. Creative writing students experiment with fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry. Student-centered instructional approach in all courses focuses on leadership, self-evaluation, Socratic seminar, and collaboration.

English Faculty, Norwich University, Northfield, VT, 2017–present

In Literature and Composition II, students explore various literary elements and techniques through anthologized short fiction stories, poetry, and creative nonfiction penned by authors from a variety of time periods, countries, and ethnicities. In writing, students apply different critical lenses to evaluate and interpret the techniques and themes inherent in the text. Classroom activities consist of journal writing, lecture-discussion, collaborative groups, and Socratic seminar.

Note: Some of my clients/colleagues have worked with me as Kyle or Kylee (my birth/given name). I have since adopted my grandmother’s first name Mabel as my first name. I have also published under all three names.
